Belgian Linen is widely regarded as the highest quality linen fabric in the world. It is low input and therefore more environmentally friendly. It is also renewable with a short growing cycle and every part of the plant is used. This flax fibre is stronger than your average regular cotton fibre making the garment highly durable keeping up with Controversial's promise. These products have a certificate of origin allowing them to be traced to their source. This is your guarantee of Belgian linen of the highest quality. Care for the garment Machine wash: 1. Separate white, dark, and colored linens. For best results, wash separately from other fabrics. 2. Wash in lukewarm water (<40°C/104°F). High temperatures may cause shrinkage of up to 10% and weaken the linen fiber. 3. Use the gentle machine cycle and don’t overload your washing machine. 4. Use mild detergent formulated for delicate fabrics. Don't bleach. Hand wash: 4.1. Fill a small container (bucket or sink) with lukewarm water and add about a teaspoon of mild detergent. 4.2. Submerge the linen garment in lukewarm water and let it soak for about 10 minutes. 4.3. Gently swish the item around. Don't wring, twist or scrub as it can stretch the fabric. 4.4. Drain the soapy water and rinse repeatedly until the soapy residue is all gone. Hang to dry. After wash care: o Straighten the linen fabric immediately after washing and hang to dry. o Avoid using a tumble dryer. It consumes natural fabrics. o Mangle or iron linen fabric when it’s moist. o Store linen products straight or rolled , as the linen fiber is fragile, which brakes easily if folded in long term storage. Ironing: Firstly, you don’t have to. It is perfectly fine to wash your linen shirts, dry them and put them straight back on your bed. It will look slightly creased. However, if you wish to iron, here are a few ironing tips: • Always iron linen while still damp (it's much easier to get rid of the creases) – then fold and put in an airing cupboard or somewhere warm. Place a piece of plain material over the top and iron the two together. • Use a steam iron. • Linen water is a great invention, fragranced water that can be sprayed on as you iron. It smells great and helps with the ironing too. • Use starch for clothes for that crisp linen look if desired. It will also slightly protect the linen from stains.
